Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 digital camera

The latest DSC-TX5 digital still camera is no different, living up to its Cyber-shot reputation. Just how thin is it, you ask? Well, it is no thicker than an inch – that is roughly the equivalent of a deck of cards, making it the thinnest and smallest certified waterproof (up to 10 feet deep) digital still camera in the world, where it comes complete with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and touch operation. Not only that, this 10.2 megapixel shooter is also Sony’s first digital still camera that is equipped with an “Exmor R” CMOS sensor which has been certified to be freeze proof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof up to about a 5-foot drop and dust proof. More on this device right after the jump.

We would like you to bear in mind that while it is waterproof up to 10 feet deep, it isn’t able to remain underwater for long, maxing out at just an hour, so you might want to bring along a waterproof watch with you should you decide to indulge in a little bit of underwater activities for the entire day. Still, an hour ought to be more than sufficient for casual divers, where you can also take advantage of the situation by shooting 720p high definition videos.
